For this painting and for the landscape "View from the Suburbs of Moscow" Lev Kamenev, who was Alexei Savrasov’s student, received in 1869 the title of Academician. The poetic interpretation of nature is a characteristic trait of Kamenev’s work. In the 1860s he created a number of modest but sincere Russian landscapes. In 1870 he became a founding member of the Association of Wanderers.
