The grand opening of the Multimedia Centre of the Russian Museum

The Multimedia Centre of the Russian Museum is located in the Western Pavilion of the ensemble of St. Michael's Castle. After several years of reconstruction the 19th-century historical building has been completely converted into a high quality interactive exposition located on three floors.

The Multimedia Centre of the Russian Museum enables the display of several hundred of the museum's exhibits in multimedia interpretation grouped round one subject. Art exhibits are revealed via an entirely modern arsenal of multimedia such as computer films,  audio and video presentations, 3D modelling, interactive mode for users, micro mapping and kinect technologies, a general tour and separate stories. In the year of  its opening the Multimedia Centre of the Russian Museum will greet visitors with the exhibition "Our Romantic Emperor" devoted to the author and the owner of the ensemble of St. Michael's Castle.

This unique project, combining up to date multimedia technologies and specially developed themed museum content,  creates an opportunity for a deep and fascinating immersion in  an interactive and game environment,  with elements of  an entertaining show and intellectual  humanitarian  amusements.

The opening of the Multimedia Centre has become possible thanks to the long-standing support of the Charitable Foundation "Sistema" and with direct participation of "Non-commercial partnership "Virtual Russian museum".
