Artists of the Society of Russian Sculptors

The artistic union “Society of Russian Sculptors” (ORS – Obschestvo Russkih Sculptorov) was created at 1925 on a wave of revolutionary events and construction of new culture in Russia. The main objective of this society was to unite all Russian sculptural forces and to find new plastic expression and preserve the accumulated sculptural traditions of Russian and Europe culture in art.

The society had included practically all famous Russian sculptors of the first half of the XX century: Anna Golubkina, Sergei Konyonkov, Vera Mukhina, Sarra Lebedeva, Nathan Altman, Vladimir Domogatsky, Wassily Vatagin, Stepan Erzia and many others. This exhibition from the collection of Russian Museum will open a large-scale and fascinating picture of creative searches of Russian masters, many of whom studied in Paris with Auguste Rodin and Emile Antoine Bourdelle.

Exhibition will include about 60 sculptures of different artists of the Society of Russian Sculptors, one of the leading creative associations of the 1920-s in Soviet Russia.
