The history of the library at the new Martyrs and Confessors of Russian Church began in 1999. The basis for it served as personal books, donated by the first rector and builder Protopriest Grigory Medvedev.
Subscription is one of the main and oldest sections of the library. Originally it functioned 1-2 days a week. Books on the house were issued for a maximum of 3 days for the entry in the Journal of the issuance of books, tk. The subscription fund included 75 books. From the very first days of the existence of the library, a readers' circle was organized in it, at which meetings books were discussed, spiritual conversations were conducted with priests, Orthodox doctors and teachers.
Updated in 2008 under the abbot of the abbot Guria (Danilov), the parish library numbered about 1500 thousand editions of spiritual literature, Orthodox magazines and newspapers. Thanks to the support of the church council, the library fund for the decade has increased from 1500 to 16,000 documents: books, video and audio materials and periodicals of spiritual content.
With the support and assistance of the reader's asset, public events are held in the library, as well as all material and technical work on the maintenance of the book fund. The bibliographic program "Irbis-64" was purchased, an electronic catalog was compiled.

The Orthodox Library of the Church of the New Martyrs and Confessors of the RussianChurch in the city of Cheboksary, the 18th year, performs its immediate functions - educational, educational, educational- information, leisure. And all these areas of library work are subordinated to a single task - the Orthodox mission.
In working with readers, all forms and methods developed over many decades of Russian library practice are applied. This is an individual work with readers, and a differentiated approach to different categories of readers, and mass (collective) forms of library work. The main thing is that all of them are subordinated to one goal - to give the reader an opportunity to get to know the basics of the Orthodox faith, to understand the Holy Scripture, to learn the history of the Church, the lives of the holy Christian martyrs, to get acquainted with the creations of the Fathers and teachers of the Church.
Currently, the library fund has more than 16,000 items of storage. These are books, audiovisual documents, periodicals. The main sections of the fund include publications on biblical studies, dogmatics, basic, practical, comparative and moral theology, apologetics, hagiography, homiletics, asceticism, patrology, church history and other church-theological problems. In addition, there is a section of fiction (classical domestic and foreign, modern Orthodox). Literature for children is especially highlighted.
In addition to working with readers, the Orthodox Library provides methodological and advisory assistance to workers of parish libraries in the city of Cheboksary who do not have a special library education.
