Painter; portraitist, miniaturist. Studied under her father, portraitist L. Vigée, enjoyed the advices of Jean-Baptiste Greuze, Claude Joseph Vernet, Gabriel François Doyen. Member of the Royal Academy of Painting and Sculpture in Paris (from 1783). Married Jean-Baptiste-Pierre Le Brun, painter and art dealer. Left her native country during the French Revolution. Lived in Italy for three years, visited England, Sweden and Austria. Painted portraits of members of the Imperial family and court nobility. Worked in Russia (from 1795 to 1801). Honourary associate member of the Imperial Academy of Arts (1800). Wrote the book “Memoirs of Madame Vigée Le Brun”.
