JUON Konstantin Fyodorovich

Painter, graphic and genre artist, theatrical designer. Studied at the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture (1892–1900). Contributed to exhibitions (from 1893). Headed the Juon and Dudin School of Art in Moscow (1900–1917). Chief artist at the State Academic Maly Theatre in Moscow (1945–1947). Director of the Research Institute of Theory and History of Fine Arts of the Academy of Arts of the USSR (1947). People’s Artist of the USSR (1950). Taught at the Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture (1934–1935) and the Moscow Institute of Art (1952–1955).
