French painter, draughtsman, miniaturist, author of monumental paintworks. Lived in Holland, England. Worked in Russia from 1754 to 1804. Signed a contract thereby “was bound to serve to Her Imperial Majesty as a painter at the St Petersburg Academy of Arts” (Russian State Historical Archive, fund 789, inv. l., part 1, 1759, file 6), taught at the Academy (more than a year). Author of portraits and plafonds. Created drawings for engravings.
