LIZAK Israel Lvovich

Painter, graphic artist. Studied at the School of Drawing of the Society for the Encouragement of the Arts (1916–1918) and the Petrograd State Free Art Studios / VKhUTEMAS / VKhUTEIN (1919–1925); attended Alexander Bely’s art studio (1922). Contributed to exhibitions (from 1923). Member of the Union of Artists (1932). Taught drawing at the Vera Mukhina School of Art and Industry in Leningrad (1946–1948). Worked as a designer at the newspaper Smena (1930–1935), worked with various publishing houses (1949–1951); worked in research and restoration studios, restored frescoes in cathedrals and palaces in St Petersburg and its environs (1952–1956).
