Painter, graphic artist, monumentalist. Studied in Petrograd / Leningrad at the School of Drawing, Society for the Encouragement of the Arts in Petrograd (1917); State Free Art Studios / VKhUTEMAS / VKhUTEIN in Petrograd (1918–1919, 1921–1924); the advanced training courses, Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture (1932–1933). Contributed to exhibitions (from 1925). Taught at the Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture (1945–1948). Chairman of the City Fine Arts Committee of the Art Workers’ Trade Union (1931–1933). Member of the Union of Artists (1932). Honoured Artist of the RSFSR (1969).
