Forms of activities of virtual branches

The information and educational centre "The Russian Museum: the Virtual Branch" consists of a multimedia cinema and information and educational class. The content of the centre is the Mediateka which includes interactive multimedia programs and films created by the Russian Museum.

The materials of the Mediateka enables each visitor of the information and educational centre to:

  • enter into the museum environment and fascinating world of fine art
  • learn about the history of the establishment of the Russian Museum and its contemporary life
  • visit the palaces, museum storage and even conservation department
  • open known and forgotten pages of the history of Russian art
  • get to know the lives and works of the outstanding Russian artists

  • get an idea of forms, genres, styles and epochs of Russian art
  • explore the peculiarities of different art techniques

INFORMATION AND EDUCATIONAL CLASS


 

 

Interactive multimedia programs and publications on the collection of the Russian Museum, the history of Russian art, and the history of palaces and parks that are the parts of the museum's complex are presented in the computer equipped information and educational classroom.Visitors can work with programs of the Mediateka by themselves, visit the web portal of the project, the web portal of the Russian Museum and the other Internet resources relating to the cultural heritage of Russia. Classes for children and students are also held here.

The activities of the information and educational centre "The Russian Museum: the Virtual Branch" are provided by highly qualified specialists in the field of arts and education, modern technologies, museum's pedagogy and children's creative work.

MULTIMEDIA CINEMA


 

 

The multimedia cinema is presented an auditorium equipped with modern projection equipment or a plasma panel, a computer, a DVD player and an audio system.

The visitors watch films on artists, the history of Russian art, and the collections of the Russian Museum and art museums of Russia in a multimedia cinema. Thanks to up-to-date information technologies, the technology of virtual reality, and 3D modelling these programs enable the users to make virtual tours round the palaces of the Russian Museum and get to know its expositions. The viewer has a possibility to see the historical reconstructions of lost palace interiors, and make a tour round the Summer Garden. The visitors are especially interested in a virtual journey into paintings, coming from one painting into the other thanks to specially designed 3D space based on the subjects of both paintings. The journey into a painting enables the visitor to become a direct participant of the events, develops creative imagination and is designed for audiences of all ages.
