Among the numerous images of peasants painted in the late 1920s and early 1930s, what primarily stands out about this exhibited "head" is the reproduction of separate parts of the face: the eyes and the lips. However, the generalised character of the image of the head as a whole, the simplified form of the neck and shoulders and the laconic colour scheme link this work closely to other works of the late 1920s and early 1930s.
