Lucius Annaeus Seneca (4 BC – 65 AD) – an ancient Roman Stoic philosopher and tutor to emperor Nero. Being a man of a determined character himself, Seneca preached moral strictness and dedication, the qualities he could not develop in his pupil. Seneca was accused of participating in a plot and at the emperor’s order was forced to commit suicide – Seneca took a cup with poison.
