A pair to the “Pomona” sculpture. Vertumnus – the Roman god of season change and autumn fruit ripening, the god of transformations and various changes, who could assume any shape. He came to Pomona in the shape of an old woman and convinced her to become his wife. Vertumnus is depicted in a crown of fruits, he is holding apples and grapes in his hands; flowers, pumpkin and carrots lie at his feet. |
