This film is focused on Vladimir Borovikovsky, one of the talented and original artists of the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries. He worked in the field of portrait and icon-painting.

The State Russian museum was held the temporary exhibition "Vladimir Borovikovsky. The Religious paintings". The exhibition is dedicated to the 250 anniversary of the painter. The religious paintings by Vladimir Borovikovsky from the collections of the Russian Museum, Tretyakov gallery, Tver Art gallery, The State Historical Museum of Religion and Sergiev Posad State History and Art Museum and Reserve were shown in full for the first time. There were presented about 50 paintings and 5 drawings.
