The Golden Ring of Russia
The Golden Ring of Russia is a tourist route passing through the ancient cities of Northeastern Russia, which have preserved unique historical and cultural monuments. Russia, the centers of folk crafts.
The author of the term and the idea of the ring route is the journalist and writer Yuri Bychkov, who published a series of essays on ancient Russian cities under the general heading "The Golden Ring" in the newspaper Sovetskaya Kultura in November —December 1967. Later, this name was assigned to the tourist route.
The Golden Ring traditionally includes eight main cities: Sergiev Posad, Pereslavl-Zalessky, Rostov the Great, Yaroslavl, Kostroma, Ivanovo, Suzdal, Vladimir.
