Vernissages

Annually the Russian Museum organises dozens of exhibitions, which exhibit about 5,000 works from their own collection, as well as from collections of other museums and private collections. The exhibitions generate a great deal of interest. The exhibitions are accompanied by publications and multimedia programs. However access to these materials is limited.

The section “Vernissages in the Russian Museum” enables users to explore virtually the exhibition’s rooms, and get acquainted with the large exhibitions of the Russian Museum.


This exhibition offers visitors the rare opportunity to appreciate the more interesting and notable specimens of 18th century drawing and watercolour from the museum’s extensive collection. Because of their fragility, these works are seldom presented for public viewing.
Home and Family. Images of Peaceful Life conveys the warmth and emotion of tranquil daily life within the circle of the family. The works on display reveal insights into how genre scenes were rendered by artists who lived during the peak of the romantic and sentimentalist era, proponents of critical realism, and Soviet-era artists.
On 14-15 December, 2022 the Russian Museum took part in the first Russian-Bahrain cultural forum “Diversity Of Cultures As A Ground For A Dialogue” and in a museum road-show in Manama, Kingdom of Bahrain. On December 14th, the opening of the digital exhibition “Russian Avant-Garde '' took place in the house of Music of Mohamed bin Faris. The General Director V. Gusev spoke in public at the opening of the Forum and exhibition.
Images of Military Life is an extensive exhibition featuring icons, paintings, sculptures, and applied and decorative artworks from the 16th through 20th centuries, most of them extracted from the museum’s repositories.
