Vernissages

Annually the Russian Museum organises dozens of exhibitions, which exhibit about 5,000 works from their own collection, as well as from collections of other museums and private collections. The exhibitions generate a great deal of interest. The exhibitions are accompanied by publications and multimedia programs. However access to these materials is limited.

The section “Vernissages in the Russian Museum” enables users to explore virtually the exhibition’s rooms, and get acquainted with the large exhibitions of the Russian Museum.


The exhibition continues the Russian Museum project of the systematic display of Russian photography, which began in 2011, the purpose of which was to draw attention to the Russian photographic heritage.
In the summer of 2017, the collection of the Russian Museum received a donation of an extensive collection of works by various artists, which was called the Leporskaya Archive in historiography. The archive included over 600 works by Anna Alexandrovna Leporskaya herself.
The first personal exhibition of Vyacheslav Pakulin in the Russian Museum is aimed to fully present his searches and discoveries in the field of painting, graphics and theatrical art. The exposition will include about 200 works from the collection of the Russian Museum, the Museum of the History of St. Petersburg, the St. Petersburg State Museum of Theater and Music, the Museum of St. Petersburg Art of the XX-XXI centuries, the Museum of Political History and private collections.
“Beyond the Establishment” is an inclusive project of the Russian Museum and the first large-scale attempt to present the work of non-professional artists with mental disorders and / or psychiatric experience from an artistic point of view.
The exhibition, for the first time, comprises works of famous and lesser-known masters, in whose art different sides of the ideas of cosmism, clearly manifested in Russian science and philosophy, are reflected.
The F.M.Dostoevsky Literary-Memorial Museum presents an exhibition to the 200th anniversary of the writer.

The Russian Museum possesses a large number of paintings, graphic and sculptural works connected with the name of Dostoevsky.
One of the leading masters of Russian impressionism, Grabar had a significant impact on the development of this trend in Russian painting. The exhibition presents more than 120 paintings from 17 Russian museums, as well as private collections in both Russian capitals.
