Vernissages
Annually the Russian Museum organises dozens of exhibitions, which exhibit about 5,000 works from their own collection, as well as from collections of other museums and private collections. The exhibitions generate a great deal of interest. The exhibitions are accompanied by publications and multimedia programs. However access to these materials is limited.
The section “Vernissages in the Russian Museum” enables users to explore virtually the exhibition’s rooms, and get acquainted with the large exhibitions of the Russian Museum.
The exhibition consisting of over 500 objects from the collection of the Russian Museum amasses impressive handiwork by artisans of the Nizhny Novgorod Region which has never been displayed before in such a comprehensive way.
The exhibition unites, for the first time, 125 artworks by Siemiradzki and his contemporaries, Russian academic painters and sculptors, who worked in the Eternal City in the second half of the 19th century and the early 20th century. Among them are Mark Antokolsky, Stepan Bakalovich, Vladimir Beklemishev, Mikhail Botkin, Fyodor Bronnikov, Nikolai Laveretsky, Alexander Rizzoni, Alexander and Pavel Svedomsky, Vassily Smirnov, and Pavel Chistyakov.
The first monographic exhibition of one of the major Russian sculptors of animals of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Artemy Ober, presents a comprehensive collection of his works, acquired by the Russian Museum from his widow.
The exhibition at the St Michael's Castle includes 15 paintings from the Moscow series by Gérard de la Barthe, accessioned into the Museum's collection in 1931 from the Alexandrovsky Palace in Tsarskoye Selo and never yet exhibited in its entirety. The display also includes views of Moscow painted around the same time by I. V. Moshkov (1778–1845) and etchings depicting the 1812 Fire of Moscow, the landscape backgrounds of which are based on de la Barthe's vedute.
The exhibition is dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the famous Russian filmmaker and film director. The exhibition in the Russian Museum will bring together archival and documentary materials, as well as works of art by the artists and photographers who were Tarkovsky’s colleagues, friends, and followers.
The exhibition features a complicated and many-sided picture of the first decades of the 20th century comprising revolutionary unrest of the 1905th as well as the enthusiasm of the first five-year plan when the belief in the World Revolution, hopes for the common prosperity, apprehensions and brave dreams were combined.
The exhibition comprises over 100 art pieces on different subjects – from political propaganda to education, including the world-famous works by such masters as V.Lebedev, V.Kozlinsky, D.Moor, N.Kogout, V.Mayakovsky, V.Deni, and others, along with the posters by unknown artists.
The exhibition celebrates the 100-th Anniversary of the October Revolution and comprises works of painting, graphic art, sculpture, applied art and numismatics created in 1920-1980s and devoted to the theme of childhood.
The exhibition "Children of the Soviet Union" will be opened in the Marble Palace on the 7th of September 2017.
The exhibition presents the propaganda art of the first years after the 1917 Revolution. The core part of the exhibition is the production of the Decorative Institute which functioned in Petrograd-Leningrad in 1918-1926.
The Russian Museum houses the biggest part of Rylov’s artistic heritage: paintings and sketches of various periods, graphic works, illustrations. 100 art pieces are on display, among which are landscapes and historical and genre paintings from the collection of the Russian Museum, State Tretyakov Gallery, and other museums.

The exhibition demonstrates one of the most significant art objects of Novgorod dating back from the 16th century – the carved gilded Ambon from St. Sophia Cathedral in Novgorod created on the initiative of archbishop Macarius in 1533.

The art of Victor Borisov-Musatov (1870-1905), one of the leading masters of Russian symbolism, is presented in St.Michael’s Castle in context of his activity in the artistic society “Blue Rose”, the first exhibition of which dates back to 1907, 110 years ago.
20 января в Российском центре науки и культуры в Мадриде состоялось открытие выставки «Шедевры древнерусской иконописи из коллекции Русского музея», которая проходит в рамках перекрестного года туризма Россия – Испания. В дальнейшем выставку планируется показать в других испанских городах, в частности, в культурно-выставочном центре Русского музея в Малаге.
