The Service “Virtual Russian Museum” is a structural subdivision of the Russian Museum which goals are the development and implementation of electronic digital technologies in the museum as well as the maintenance of the virtual branches of the Russian Museum in Russia and abroad. There are two departments in the service.

• The department of work with the virtual branches 
• The Multimedia Centre of the Russian Museum 

The goals of the department

 ✓   Coordination of the project “The Russian Museum: the Virtual Branch” and  backing of  partners’ activities of project.

 ✓   Popularisation of the collection of the Russian Museum via the network of the virtual branches of the Russian Museum, the virtual representation of the Russian Museum on the Internet as well as mobile applications.

The goals of the department

 ✓   Maintenance of the multimedia exposition of the Multimedia Centre of the Russian Museum as well as reception and service of visitors of the Centre

 ✓   Organisation and holding of events in the Multimedia Centre as well as outside the Centre relating to the activities of the Multimedia Centre of the Russian Museum
