ROKOTOV Fyodor Stepanovich
1732 (1735), Moscow -1808, Moscow
Painter, portraitist. Believed to have studied in his youth under Moscow icon-painters. Moved to St. Petersburg (17505). Studied at the Imperial Academy of Arts (from 1760). Junior assistant (1762). Academician (1765). Returned to Moscow (17605) and worked there as a free artist.
