The students of the junior classes of the V.E. Tatlin Art School No. 1 got acquainted with the work of Viktor Mikhailovich Vasnetsov, a great Russian painter whose name and paintings are known to everyone. The artistic value of Vasnetsov's works for Russian culture cannot be overestimated. He was one of the first who revived the magical world of fairy tales, epics and Russian folklore on his canvases. Viktor Vasnetsov has contributed to a wide variety of fields of art — theatrical scenery and costumes, architecture, applied art. He created illustrations for the works of Pushkin and Lermontov, devoted more than ten years of his creative life to work on the paintings of St. Vladimir's Cathedral in Kiev. "I am a storyteller, a bylinnik, a guslar of painting" - Viktor Vasnetsov about himself.
