Fidelio Bruni’s painting was acquired by Tsar Nicholas I for the Imperial Hermitage when the artist returned to Russia from his second trip to Rome. The picture was lithographed after a drawing by A. Petrovsky and published by A. Kozlov in 1847 with a dedication to Prince Maximilian of Leuchtenberg (1817–1852), president of the Imperial Academy of Arts. The engraving by A. Bobrov and A.
