The mobile application of the Augmented Reality developed by the Ministry of Culture of Russian Federation for museums of Russia enables the visitors using a smartphone to detect the museum’s objects and get further information on museum’s exhibits in the form of texts and images. The official presentation of the project took place in the Russian Museum in December, 2017.
At present 40 exhibits from the permanent collection of the Russian Museum as well as materials on the temporary exhibitions “Kuzma Petrov-Vodkin”, “Henryk Siemiradzki and Russian Artists’ Colony in Rome”, “Catherine the Great in Russia and Beyond” are available for visitors.
Rmgallery.ru The Website for Mobile Devices
The website for mobile devices Rmgallery.ru has now been launched. It enables visitors to expand their possibilities without having to download special applications, which will make receiving information quicker. The mobile website developed in Russian, English and Spanish is available for users with all mobile devices that have access to the Internet.
Nowadays the museum’s exhibition is actively using the technology of the Augmented Reality not only for allowing individuals to quickly get information, but also for educational and project and game activities of classes and workshops, discovering the secrets of fine art through contemporary media, enthralling children and young people.
The Russian Museum has become the first museum in Russia to start using the technology of the Augmented Reality in work with visitors. The presentation of the project “The Russian Museum. The Augmented Reality” took place in the Russian Museum on the 16th December of 2011 in the framework of the round table “Museum 2.0: digital technology in art”.
The mobile application for Android and iOs platforms was developed with the support of Mobile TeleSystems PJSC. At the exhibition 100 QR codes were placed near the most famous works of art and a booklet “Grigory Chernetsov. Parade on Tsaritsa Meadow” was prepared and published. The booklet is devoted to the unique painting of the early 19th century representing more than 200 characters which were contemporaries of the poet Alexander Pushkin.
The Project “The Masterpieces of the Russian Museum in the Streets of the City”
On the 13th of September 2012 the Russian Museum and “Art-Tour” company presented the art and educational project “The Masterpieces of the Russian Museum in the Streets of the City” devoted to the 200th anniversary of the Patriotic War of 1812.
The project featured an exhibition of high quality reproductions of the paintings from the collection of the Russian Museum in open air on the facades of the buildings on Griboedov Canal. All the works were provided with QR codes enabling everyone to learn the pages of glorious history via the best works of the museum’s collection.
The Booklet “Grigory Chernetsov. The Parade on Tsaritsa Meadow”
The booklet “Grigory Chernetsov. The Parade on Tsaritsa Meadow” was developed to show the possibilities of up to date technology in presenting of a huge amount of different information. It is devoted to the unique painting of the early 19th century featuring more than 200 characters, contemporaries of Alexander Pushkin. Thanks to several pages with QR codes visitors can see reconstructions of monuments of architecture, films, audio materials, and information on the characters of the painting.
The booklet, comprised of a wealth of material, enables the user to choose the most interesting and suitable format of getting information.
The Project “Lyric Poetry of the Summer Garden”
The information sheet was produced for the opening of the Summer Garden after the complex restoration in May 2012. It enables visitors, thanks to QR codes, to learn about the history of the unique monument of landscape art in St. Petersburg, to see the changes of the garden through its 300 years history via 3D reconstructions, get acquainted with new objects, allegorical sculptural groups in different formats such as video, audio, texts, schemes and plans – all of this was placed on the information sheet.
The Project “Lyric Poetry of the Summer Garden” was suggested to encourage the esthetic and emotional feelings of citizens and guests of the Summer Garden. One can listen to poems by outstanding Russian poets read by famous Russian actors just by clicking one QR code.
