LANCERAY, Evgeny Alexandrovich
1848, Morshansk, Tambov Gubernia — 1886, Neskuchnoe, Kursk Gubernia
Sculptor. Studied at the Law Department of St. Petersburg university (1866–1870). Got no systematic art education, attended Nikolai Lieberich’s studio. Made a trip to Paris to study art of bronze casting (1867). Conferred title of class artist of the 2nd degree for his works shown at the Exhibition of the Imperial Academy of Arts (1869), conferred title of class artist of the 1st degree (1872). Honoured member of the Imperial Academy of Arts (1874). Worked mainly in easel sculpture, author of numerous genre, historical and ethnographic compositions.
