RUTKOVSKY Nikolai Christophorovich
1892, Schoenberg, Courland Province — 1968, Leningrad
Painter, graphic artist, theatrical designer, monumentalist; master of genre paintings, portraits, landscapes and still lifes. Studied at the School of Drawing, Society for the Encouragement of the Arts (1911–1913) and the Academy of Arts (1913–1915, 1921–1922). Contributed to exhibitions (from 1923). Taught monumental painting at the Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture (1936–1942), headed the monumental painting studio.
