The printed cloth was widely spread in the peasant’s life. Shirts and pants, aprons and sarafans as well as bedspreads and tablecloths were made of it. The tablecloths were laid on the table only on the large folk festivals such as wedding, during the spring sowing or harvest. Therefore, the ornament of tablecloths was traditional and required circles-rosettes, images of birds as the embodiment of the sun and light.
