The quests of this leading Russian Impressionist over the course of four decades, from the 1880s, defined the outer appearance and course of development of the Russian school of Impressionism. Korovin constantly enriched Russian Impressionism with new figurative devices, themes and motifs. The artist showed his mettle in various genres of painting, and his oeuvre and teaching practice assisted the broad spread of the ideas of Impressionism in Russia.
