This painting belongs to a number of works characteristic for the artist at the end of her Neo-Primitive period — the most prolific and exciting stage in the artist’s career. The dark silhouettes of the trees, bushes and human figures, in contrast to the whitish sky and the snow on the earth, make the image more poetic and expressive.
