Museum of Ershov Teacher Training Institute Meets Schoolchildren

The museum of Ershov Teacher Training Institute meets schoolchildren

As last year, Ershov Teacher Training Institute holds regular discussion lectures on the outstanding masters of Russian fine arts.

At a regular meeting the pupils of Ishim school № 5 got acquainted with the Russian-Soviet school of engraving of the late XIXth - early XXth century. This period was the heyday of engraving in general and Soviet prints in particular. As is known, at the turn of the XIXth and XXth centuries engraving was no longer a servant to painting, it ceased to perform the tasks of reproduction and became a full-fledged, independent art form. The audience was presented with a variety of techniques: etching, woodcut, linocut and lithograph. The children watched an educational film from the collection of the Russian Museum. They were given a detailed story about the artistic techniques; saw the most significant works of Russian and Soviet artists, such as V.V. Matѐ, V.D. Falileev, A.P. Ostroumova-Lebedeva, A.P. Shillingovsky, V.N. Masyutin. The most memorable part of the lecture for the pupils was the decoration of the book about the outstanding monument of ancient Rus literature "The Tale of Igor's Campaign" by the famous artist V.A. Favorsky.

Finally, the children have visited the art gallery of the Institute, where they could admire a real linocut by the Tyumen artist E.K. Kobelev from his series of works on P.P. Ershov’s tale "Little Humpbacked Horse."

While visiting our institute, the children learned a lot of new and interesting things, and most importantly, many of them expressed the wish to study here in the future
