Digital attraction "The Last Day of Pompeii" at the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Brest.

On December 2-4, the Russian Museum has presented a digital attraction dedicated to the famous painting by Karl Bryullov, "The Last Day of Pompeii", at the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Brest.

The large-scale canvas, which brought Karl Bryullov fame during his lifetime and the memory of his descendants, tells the story of the eruption of Mount Vesuvius at the beginning of our era.

Augmented reality technology has been anable the participants of the attraction to "enter" the space of the painting "The Last Day of Pompeii" and find themselves on a deserted street in the ancient Roman city of Pompeii, where the events of the painting unfold, see the artist's preparatory drawings and sketches, learn what layers the painting consists of and what techniques Bryullov used to build the composition of the painting.

The digital attraction is based on the use of the augmented reality application "The Last Day of Pompeii", created by the State Russian Museum as part of the "Art and Technology" project with the support of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation and the Sistema Charitable Foundation. To conduct the digital attraction, employees of the State Russian Museum Maria Gladkikh and Sergey Fokin brought specialized AR equipment to Brest - Epson Moverio augmented reality glasses.
