LEVITIN Anatoly Pavlovich

Painter; teacher. Studied at the art high school of the Ilya Repin Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture in Leningrad (from 1936). Fought in World War II (1941–1945). After the war, enrolled at the Ilya Repin Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture (1945–1951). Contributed to exhibitions (from 1951). Bronze medal at the World Exhibition in Brussels (1957), silver medal of the USSR Academy of Arts (1958). Honoured Artist of the RSFSR (1963), People’s Artist of the RSFSR (1980). Head of a painting studio in Krasnoyarsk (from 1987); professor (from 1994). Full member of the USSR Academy of Arts (1988); member of the presidium of the Russian Academy of Arts (1997). Gold medal from the Russian Academy of Arts (2002).
