In some regions (Arkhangelsk, Vologda, Yaroslavl gubernias) shirts worn when working in the fields, or when doing other work, were named accordingly — pokosnitsa (reaping), rybolovka (fishing). Reaping and mowing shirts were often worn without a sarafan or its hem was lifted up and tucked into the girdle to better display the patterns on the shirt.
