“Kruzhok”

The kruzhok was part of the headdress worn by young brides-to-be. At a certain stage in the matchmaking process a natemnik — type of cover which hid the hair from above — was added to a Solvychegodsk bride’s head band. The band’s wide ribbons were fastened at the back in a circle (kruzhok), like a rosette with embroidered good luck symbols.
