During the period of military conflict in Astrakhan and Tsaritsyn in 1919 Sergei Kirov organized a transport between Astrakhan and Baku on eight to nine fishing boats. The boats smuggled weap - ons and workers’ literature from Astrakhan to Baku, carrying fuel for the north of Russia on the return trip.
