Painting with Points

1919

  • oil on canvas. 126 x 95
  • Жб-1715

  • Пост. в 1920 из ГМФ

Painted in dark, gloomy tones and saturated with “spiky” forms, Painting with Points has both aggressionand dramatics at the same time. It is possiblethat these feelings had settled in Kandinsky’s soul, who felt like he was more and more alonein the new Soviet Russia. It cannot be ruled outthat the splash of red, like the cross to the right inthe distance, was a metaphor for old and new Russia.
