The programme was developed based on the temporary exhibition Peter the Great: His Era and His Inner Circle, which took place in the Russian Museum from December 17, 2015 to April 3, 2016.
The program presents the oldest St. Petersburg park, which has been part of the Russian Museum since 2003. The Summer Garden is the favourite brainchild of Peter the Great. It was created at the beginning of the 18th century following the traditions of the best examples of European Parks and Gardens.
Multimedia program combines about 500 works of Russian artists who worked in Italy and of Italian masters who left their trace in Russian art, including those who contrib¬uted greatly to the architectural image of the Russian Museum palaces.
The State Russian Museum is a unique museum complex in the centre of St. Petersburg. It represents not only the richest collection of the national fine arts but also tells about three centuries of Russian architecture and garden art. Today it includes ensembles of the Mikhailovsky Palace, St. Michael's Castle, the Marble and the Stroganov Palaces, the Summer Garden and the Mikhailovsky Garden, the Summer Palace and the Cabin of Peter the Great.
The virtual tour is based on the temporary exhibition of the Russian Museum "You're lovely, dearie, in any attire" (5 March - 12 May, 2014).
The program brings together festive folk costumes belonged to the inhabitants of European Russia - from Arkhangelsk to Voronezh, from Pskov to Nizhny Novgorod, as well as paintings from the museum's collection. The program enables you to explore the costumes in details thanks to high-accuracy photography and to get more information about each of them.
Nikolai Smirnov is the truly unique artist. The art historian by education, he became to work as the professional painter at the age of 39. He created his own way in the art - the so-called historical still life or, according to the painter's definition, "the historical theatre of the things". He worked as the painter comparatively not long - just more than twenty five years. For these years he had time to create the works which acquired the world recognition and instantly turned into the object of collection. This film will introduce you to the world of Nikolay Smirnov.

In 1994 famous German collectors Peter and Irene Ludwig gifted their collection of art of the second half of the XX-th century to the State Russian musuem. This gift resulted in a special part of the permanent exhibition «The Ludwig Museum at the Russian Museum» which hosted its first visitors on the 20 March, 1995 at the Marble Palace.
